Altar Guild The work of the Altar Guild is accomplished by a group of women devoted to
Christ and His Church. Membership is a vocation and it is a privilege to serve.
The duties of the Altar Guild are many. At various times throughout the week,
one would find a group of dedicated women busy in the sacristy preparing for the various services. The preparation consists of polishing silver and brass, preparing
for Eucharist services, pressing linens and vestments, cleaning the chancel, and changing the altar hangings. A member of the Altar Guild attends all services held
in the church, arriving at least one-half hour before the service and staying after the service to clean and put away communion vessels, get flowers ready to send to
the sick, hang up vestments and many more exacting duties. The women attend wedding rehearsals and weddings and make the necessary preparations for
baptisms and funerals. To do this work efficiently, the workers are assigned to a certain week of the month and are responsible for all services during that week. It
takes teamwork, willingness to work and dedication to the service of the altar to accomplish all of this.
The Altar Guild has a list of items that parishioners can give as memorials. Flower
Memorials, for a deceased loved one or in celebration of a special event, are also available.
For more information concerning membership in the Altar Guild or the placing of
memorials, please call Jane Brigman at 610-431-2539.
